Kibale National Park
Although it is contiguous with Queen Elizabeth National Park, to the southwest, Kibale National Park is much wetter and has a unique moist forest habitat with an extremely high diversity of wildlife. This large block of rainforest offers some excellent forest birding.
It harbours the greatest variety and concentration of primates combined with easy access, a good infrastructure and a variety of interesting activities, make this forest a worthwhile destination. Many of the facilities are community based, thus providing the local community with the necessary revenue to keep their interest focused on the long-term protection of the area. Birders should not miss Bigodi wetland sanctuary run by the local community living around the park.
Tourist activities at the park include, Chimpazee trekking, Primate walks, forest hikes and long distance walks. The children are entertained by skilled ranger guides from the educatin team. They play game, take part in creative activities such as paper making, batik, pond dipping and access the forest to learn about the inhabitants and the ecosystem.
General Park Regulations
The reception opens for visitors from 7:30 am and closes at 5:00pm.
Do not enter the forest without a park guide.
Refrain from taking anything out of the forest such nas flowers, butterflies and the rest.
Dogs and other domesti animals are prohibited.
Children below 12 years are not allowed to view chimpanzees.
Firearms and ammunitions are prohibited.
