Lake Mburo National Park
Situated between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara, this comparatively small park, 260 Sq km, is composed primarily of grassland, wetland, and Acacia woodland. The Park contains an entire lake, Lake Mburo. Lake Mburo has markedly different flora and fauna to other national parks and reservations. It is the best place in the country to see gigantic eland, impala, zebra, topi, rock hyrax, warthog, hyena, and crocodile.
A variety of water birds, while fringing swamps hide secretive papyrus specialists such as the Satatunga, antelope and white-winged warbler, papyrus yellow warbler, papyrus canary and papyrus gonolek. Mburo is the national park closest to Kampala and offers refreshing stop-overs when travelling to or from the western parks and reservations.
The park offers a numer of tourist racks used for game drives. These tracks expose visitors to diverse species of animals, water birds and woodland birds, wooded wilderness and lead hikers to Kazuma hills that enables them to view of the five lakes within the park.
Accommodation facilities in the park include three public camping sites and six tents at Rwonyo park headquaters. The restaurant located at the lakeside provides meals on order.
